I’m immersed in & slightly obsessed with the Albert “Dutch” Roth Digital Photograph Archive at Hodges Library.  I think there are over 700 photos here, taken by Roth, an amateur photographer who took photos in the Smokies before it was National Park’d and after.  There are old logging trains from the mid-nineteenth century, hotels and resorts that didn’t get torn down right away after the area was incorporated, and so much more.  There’s a photo of Andrew’s cabin on Andrew’s Bald, for instance.  But I’m writing a blog post because I found this picture of one of Roth’s hiking buddies on May 16, 1937, looking out over Charlie’s Bunion.

And I was reminded of my cute husband, looking out over Max Patch bald in June of 2010.
